It seems like Alicia’s recent comments in Blender mag have been blown out of proportion prompting her to release this statement:
“I feel it is necessary to clarify the comments that were made during my recent Blender magazine interview since they have been misrepresented.
Anyone who knows me and my character, knows that I am not a conspiracy theorist or, by implication, a racist. My comments about ‘gangsta rap’ were in no way trying to suggest that the government is responsible for creating this genre of rap music. The point that I was trying to make was that the term was over-sloganized by some of the media causing reactions that were not always positive. Many of the ‘gangsta rap’ lyrics articulate the problems of the artists’ experiences and I think all of us, including our leaders, could be doing more to address these problems including drugs, gang violence, crime, and other related social issues.
Additionally, regarding the AK-47 reference, AK-47 is a nickname given to me by some of my friends in jest, as an acronym for Alicia Keys and a metaphor for wowing people with my music and performances, “killing ‘em dead” on stage. The reference was in no way meant to have a literal, political or negative connotation.
The recent implications about me are too radical and too dramatic a departure from whom I have continually demonstrated myself to be. I work so hard and give so much of myself to bring about positive change to this world, and I only wish those efforts received as much press and attention as the misinterpretations of the Blender article.”

Alicia Keys got some conspiracy theories. She reportedly told Blender magazine that`Gangsta rap’ was a ploy to convince black people to kill each other. `Gangsta rap’ didn’t exist.”
Another of her theories is that the Biggie/Pac feud was fueled “by the government and the media, to stop another great black leader from existing.”
Alicia also wears a gold AK-47 pendant around her neck “to symbolize strength, power and killing ‘em dead,”

SOHH has some Jadakiss quotables from his interview with The Come Up DVD:
“Nas is dropping N*gger, why I can’t drop Kiss My Ass,” he asked? “I think I might keep my sh*t. Kiss My Ass coming soon.”
“I still gotta holla at Kanye, Just Blaze, maybe Pharell, hopefully Dr. Dre, Toomp … whoever got the f*cking heat man, Timbaland, Storch,” he said. “I don’t discriminate. If it’s hot, let’s have it.”
“N*gga’s is garbage,” he said. “The game is f*cked up … a bunch of ring tone, tight-pants-wearing motherf*ckrs. I’m just doin’ me. The music is f*cking garbage, man. Kanye came out with hot music. He sold records. T.I., same thing. Alicia Keys, same sh*t. If your sh*t was hot and you had a machine, you sold records.”
“Don’t blame nobody, just make better music, *ssholes,” Jada said. “It’s a business at the end of the day, so you can be mad at who ever but you gotta be mad at yourself. Either the music wasn’t right or you didn’t handle your business. It’s as simple as that.”
On Jay Z:
“He tried his hand for a few years, he raped the budget, he got however much they was paying him and he stepped down,” Jada said. “He got his masters, he doin’ his thing. 40/40’s in Vegas and all that, hotels, he good.”
Grammy Recap

The 50th Annual Grammy Awards went down tonight. There were a few pre-parties as usual. Rihanna, Beyonce, Alicia Keys, Nelly Furtado sizzled the Red Carpet.

Jay, Luda, & Neyo got GQ’d up while Nas wore a shirt that said N!GGER.
Kanye ripped it with Stronger, then paid a heartfelt tribute to his Mama. And oh yeah, picked up a few gramaphones.
Rihanna grabbed Jay’s hand when she won Song of the Year and they did not cut to Beyonce for her reaction.
